COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The “Everybody Needs a Cookie” organization recently hosted a creative fundraiser to support mental health wellness on the Texas A&M University campus. The event included a “Kiss the Pig” contest, where prominent members of the Bryan-College Station community and Texas A&M University came together to raise awareness and funds for the cause.
Participants battled for votes at $1 each, with the top fundraiser winning the unique honor of kissing a pig named “Dollar.” This year’s winners were Texas A&M baseball player Brad Rudis and News 3’s Rusty Surette.
“The goal of the fundraiser was to raise awareness in the Bryan-College Station community about our work to support students and address mental health wellness on campus,” said Jane Metz, founder of Everyone needs a cookie. “We invited seven of the best candidates representing the spirit of Texas A&M and searched for the best celebrity pig we could find: a rockstar crossbred show pig named Magnolia Dollar.”
Everybody Needs a Cookie has been on a mission to provide comfort and support to Texas A&M students since its inception. By sponsoring cookie boxes at $3 each, the organization offer to students with messages of encouragement and a treat to brighten their day. “Our goal is to encourage and support students while they are at Texas A&M University in creative and positive ways while addressing one of the most important concerns on campus, health wellness. mental health,” Metz added. “Each donated cookie has a message of encouragement on the box, and our cookie puppies are available to brighten their day and help reduce stress.” Our goal is to reach every Aggie on campus and help them succeed.
The fundraiser not only highlighted the importance of mental health awareness, but also brought the community together in a light-hearted and impactful way. Groups and individuals can still sponsor cookie packages to support students and therapy dogs on campus and in the community.
