A new entertainment place is preparing to open in Fayetteville this summer, bringing together interactive games, restaurants and social experiences under one roof.
Group Therapy Pub & Playground, which has a sister location successful in Greenville, in South Carolina, developed in Fayetteville with an installation of 10,000 square feet at 1906 Skibo Road. The place combines nostalgic games with modern technology, with activities designed for family groups, friends or colleagues to enjoy together.
The location of Fayetteville will offer what the company describes as “experiential entertainment”, including an indoor miniature golf course with 18-hole with pop culture themes, a launch of digital axes using real axes with projected targets, digital darts, ping-pong and various arcade style games. The installation also includes a wall of self-service beer at 30 shots, a full bar service and a kitchen serving American advertising dishes. “Fayetteville builds more things for people to do,” said Victoria Eppstein, head of group therapy events. “Instead of having to go to Raleigh or Wilmington, we can create a welcoming space for people

The concept of experiential entertainment has emerged from the post-countryic social landscape, the founders recognizing an increased demand for group activities that encourage social interaction in person. Although also open to guests without appointment, the company specializes in the organization of corporate events, birthday parties and baccalaureate / single celebrations alongside occasional social gatherings.
“We build a community space,” said Eppstein. “We want the guests to feel comfortable and have a good time, whether they are there for a team event or just an evening with friends.”
Group Therapy’s business model focuses on what industry observers call “competitive socialization” – activities that mix game with meals and alcohol consumption. The installation also includes live entertainment scene, with plans for groups and DJs on weekends. Note that the company applies a policy of 18 years and over after 8 p.m. while it goes to a place focused on adults in the evening.

“All our games are built around the idea of doing something fun with friends and family,” said Eppstein. “Whether it’s participating in a mini golf minimum or hanging on drinks and flat breads, the goal is to create moments that bring people together.”
While places of entertainment at the national level adapt to changing social preferences, the expansion of group therapy in Fayetteville reflects broader growth in the competitive socialization sector, which has experienced increased investments and consumer interests in recent years.
Located conveniently to the residential areas and at the base of the army of Fort Bragg, the group therapy place plans to open by the end of the summer, with exact dates awaiting construction and license approvals.
EPPSTEIN added that group therapy actively recruits staff through local employment sites and social media, with positions available in food services, bar operations and game management.
