College students take the first places at the Olympiad of Sciences

Teams of students from the Eagle Hill and Wellwood college participated in the Regional Science Olympiad tournament on March 8 in North Syracuse. Out of 15 teams in total in competition, Eagle Hill and Wellwood ended the day in the first and second place in the general classification!

The Eagle Hill team of scientific Olympiads had been preparing since November.Eagle Hill's Olympiads Scientific Olympiads won first place in the general classification of the regional competition. Coach Rachel SEEDER said the team went to a training tournament at the Cornell invitation in February to prepare. The Eagle Hill team was made up of students from 6th to 8th year, and two 9th year students who were part of the team last year even returned to help supervise young students.

The students of Eagle Hill ensured the first place medals in the air trajectory, anatomy and physiology, code busters, buses, detectives of the disease, the dynamic planet, the experimental conception, the fossils, the helicopter, the meteorology, the mastery, the microbe mission, the possible mission, the scope, the scope. All these first -place medals won a global first place victory.

Wellwood came to the tournament with a young team, including two 6th year students, but coach Fredrica Intone said everyone had taken up the challenge. The team won the first place medals in ecology, entomology, potions and poisons and wind energy. They also won the afternoon bowl quiz. These achievements assured Wellwood a second place in the general classification.

“The content is extremely advanced for this age, including and going beyond mathematics and school sciences,” said Rachel Soeder, coach of the Eagle Hill Olympiad. “I haven’t learned the equipment much before being at university.”

The events of the tournament went from subjects such as engineering, which forced students to build and pass a model to test, to specialized tests which required an in -depth study and a preparation of materials. A state tournament will take place in April.
