Tucson, Arizona (13 short stories) – The county of Cochise filed a request for preliminary and permanent injunction against a company in Ramsey Canyon.
The county said that the property, formerly a bed and breakfast, has developed without appropriate permit.
The county did not appoint the company, but said that it is now a “invited accommodation campus of 10 units, a leisure center and a restaurant”.
The company would have hosted weddings, parities and other public events. The county said that the events had been noisy and created traffic and fire risks.
“Residents are entitled to the silent use and enjoyment of their homes,” said Civil Prosecutor Adjts, Paul Correa. “The County Prosecutor’s Office is committed to protecting communities against activities that violate the county zoning, especially when threatening health and safety.”
The county said that Ramsey Canyon was known for his “biodiversity and bird observation tourism”.
The county said that “weddings every weekend and other events during the week led to growing concerns on the part of residents, first stakeholders and environmental officials”.
If the operators had requested permits, the Comté, Community and Zoning Commission would have been involved.
“The process would have enabled Ramsey Canyon residents to have a voice and consider the problems of fire and emergency management,” said the county.
