PORTLAND (WGME) — The snow is falling and it’s time to fix up your house.
And if you’re a small business owner in the weathering industry, Coastal Enterprises has help.
“The goal is really to try to get business advice like marketing, how to do cash flow projections, how to hire, how to maintain your employee base,” said Emily Wood, Coastal Enterprises program director .
The classes are online, so anyone can participate. The group says it is open to everyone, from experienced entrepreneurs to newcomers to the field.
“These are the people who do energy audits of homes to see where these drafts are or where the heat is escaping and these are the people who come and blow into your building to make it more airtight.” , Wood said.
The association has just received a grant to offer two additional groups of courses. Each group lasts seven weeks and includes seven courses.
“The first step in building efficiency, before adding solar pumps, heat pumps or electrification, is to ensure your building envelope is sealed so you don’t waste no money for any of these other improvements to your home,” Wood said.
Registration is as easy as completing an online application.
Coastal Enterprises reviews all applications and says so far none have been declined.
“We just want to know your name, where you are in the business, are you new, do you have a business, what do you specialize in. Are you an installer, energy auditor, what type of installation you use? So these are just basic questions,” Wood said.
To find out when you can register for the next courses, you can go to their website.
