CEDARBURG — The Cedarburg Plan Commission has approved a conditional use permit for a 31,980-square-foot indoor family entertainment center on the city’s south end.
Aaron Gillette of AJ Amusements Inc. plans to open a Cedarburg entertainment center in an existing multi-tenant general manufacturing building at W57N14371 Doerr Way.
“I think it’s a great benefit,” said Commissioner Jack Arnett, who also thanked Gillette for “investing” in Cedarburg.
In an overview of the project, Gillette said the Cedarburg entertainment center will include an 18-hole mini-golf course, laser tag, an arcade and a snack bar that will also sell beer and wine. The plan originally called for bumper cars, but city planner Mary Censky said they would no longer be included.
“We believe there is a strong need for this type of family entertainment center in Ozaukee County,” Gillette said in his memo. “Currently, options for year-round indoor recreational activities are limited, especially those geared toward families with children. Cedarburg Entertainment will fill this gap and provide a valuable amenity to residents and visitors.”
Hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to midnight (adults 18 and over only 10 p.m. to midnight) Friday and Saturday. Gillette estimates daily attendance would be 39 visitors per day on weekdays and 88 visitors per day on weekends.
“The Cedarburg Entertainment Center represents a valuable addition to the Cedarburg community, providing a unique and engaging entertainment experience for residents and visitors,” Gillette said. “The project is part of the city’s commitment to family-friendly recreation and economic development. »
Gillette is not proposing any changes to the exterior of the building or site. Access to the site is via Doerr Way.
“I think the use is appropriate in that location, but a few things need to be improved in order to make it as safe as it should be there,” Censky said.
Another condition recommended by Censky was that there be no outdoor recreation/entertainment uses.
