San Antonio – (June 10, 2025) – The city of San Antonio, in partnership with the planning firm and the architectural firm Able City, announces the dates of 10 two -day community planning workshops – one in each district of the municipal council. These workshops are designed both to collect residents’ comments and provide space to share precise and up -to -date information on the Downtown Sports & Entertainment District offered. Residents are invited to spend at any time during the two days, whenever it is the most practical.
On the two -day community workshops
These two -day community workshops offer a coherent, transparent and community design process to collect significant contributions from residents in order to establish a set of guiding principles that will help the municipal council to assess the elements of the proposed project and guarantee that future decisions reflect the values of the community. The community is invited to participate at any time throughout the two days.
Each session will include a variety of opportunities for round table discussions and discussion groups, creating a dynamic space for bidirectional dialogue and sharing of ideas with project coordinators – ensuring that the voices of the community are heard and that residents have access to facts on the scope, financing and the potential impact of the project.
- Day 1 will feature a community forum from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., offering residents the opportunity to hear about the objectives of the planners and city officials. Representatives of Sports & Entertainment Spurs will also be there to answer questions and speak to residents. The majority of the evening is a practical cartography exercise so that the community shares its specific ideas for the district.
- Day 2 will include an open day from noon to 7 p.m. with interactive stations, including an exhibition of basic ideas that will help guide the district design. Participants can ask questions and provide additional comments to project coordinators.
- The community is also invited to participate in one of the four specific discussion groups on the subject, which will take place on two days and will explore housing, transport, local affairs and public community space.
These meeting workshop sessions are designed to be welcoming, engaging and inclusive – offering each participant a chance to shape a shared vision for the future of the project. City staff, council members and Able City representatives will be on site to facilitate interactive workshops.

Spanish translation is available in each workshop and American sign language services are available on request via the website. A bilingual digital survey will also be available on the website until July to ensure that all residents can provide comments and comments throughout this process.
“The community contribution is important in this phase of the project because it has just started, and we will need a two -way conversation with the residents to shape it in the place that we all want to visit and appreciate,” said Erik Walsh, City Director. “We must understand what people want in this public space and their expectations concerning the potential development of the city center. These community workshops will offer residents the opportunity to speak directly with project representatives to obtain the facts, learn more details about the project and provide their contribution to what they want to see for the project. ”
