For the nearly 400 people who attended the ELC reception of the NJBIA on Tuesday evening, a singular message was issued by the republican candidate to the post of governor Jack Ciattarelli and the Democratic candidate Mikie Sherrill:
The business climate in New Jersey will be well improved under their respective leadership than the one who is currently experienced by state job creators.
For MP Sherrill, a former naval helicopter pilot, there was the promise to reduce administrative formalities for business, reduce energy and health care costs and accelerate the speed at which companies can obtain necessary licenses.
For Ciattarelli, the former assembly and state entrepreneur, there has been the guarantee of decline and, in some cases, to eliminate commercial taxes, a reduction in regulatory charges and the addition of small services bought within its administration, for trade and energy, which will benefit greatly.
“One of my main objectives is to make New Jersey a better place to do business,” Ciattarelli told the crowd gathered at the Palais de Somerset. “I do not want to be the governor of a state which is classified from one year to the next as one of the worst places in the country where to do business.
“In the past, companies would mainly examine two things – taxes and regulations. Today, they look at four things: taxes, regulations, labor and energy swimming pool. And to be quite candid, we aspire the wind in the four. ”
“We must take daring measures to make our state more affordable by reducing the cost of housing, the cost of public services and the cost of health care,” said Sherrill. “We must stimulate economic opportunities by reducing bureaucratic barriers and administrative formalities. We need someone who is ready to direct innovative ideas and only respond to the residents of New Jersey.
“We have an inheritance to respect. From Thomas Edison to Bell Labs, our state of innovation changed the course of the history generation after generation. I present myself again for the governor to make our state the leader in research, development and applications of advanced technologies. ”
Sherrill noted the last CNBC ranking showing the ranking of New Jersey 44th for business cost and 48th for conviviality.
“I don’t have to tell you everyone here these figures because I know that many of you have told me about your problems and your problems trying to sail in our state,” she said. “It is unacceptable and I will change it as a governor.”
Path of state
Sherrill, representing the 11th district of New Jersey, was what many considered to be soft pants in the Democratic primary, which presented six eminent candidates.
But she ended up winning quickly and large, ending with around 34% of the votes, about 13 percentage points more than the mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka. She was declared a winner by the Associated Press for about 40 minutes after closing the ballot boxes.
Ciattarelli, who presents himself for the governor for the third time, was definitely the Runner Front decided on the republican side, who also presented the contenders Bill Spadea and Senator Jon Bramnick. Ciattarelli received the approval of President Trump with about a month in the race and scored nearly 68% of the Republican vote, winning the 21 counties simultaneously.

“When a company requires a permit, it should have each stage of the process and the agency’s progress on this stage at their disposal in an online dashboard,” said Sherrill. “They should be able to ensure that they have transparent and enforceable deadlines in this state.
“I am engaged in this transparency and this efficiency, which will reduce costs and reduce delays. I will also make sure that business leaders as always have a seat at the table when important commercial decisions will be taken,” said Sherrill.

The employers’ legislative committees were created by NJBIA in 1959 as independent local organizations representing the 21 counties, in order to discuss important relevant questions to businesses.
Traditionally, the NJBIA ELC is the first event of a post-Prrimian governor where the two candidates speak to the business community.
