Chris Allen – A leader in finance with more than three decades of experience in health care finance, including management positions in academic medical centers – has been appointed executive and financial director of the health system at the University of Chicago Medicine. He will start his new role on September 1, 2025.
Allen will join Uchicago Medicine of Keck Medicine of the USC, where he was financial director for the health system. He occupied several key roles during his mandate there, notably the financial director of the Keck Medical Center and the executive administrator for financial planning and the appearance of the decision. He played an essential role in improving the financial performance of Keck Medicine, while supporting his clinical growth and his academic mission.
At Uchicago Medicine, Allen will direct financial operations through the health system and play an essential role in resources managing the mission of advancing health thanks to excellence in patient care, research and education. He will oversee strategic financial planning, budgeting, income cycle, payment contracts and financial reports and will work with executive leadership on the financial system financial priorities and to align its strategies on the university’s objectives.

Before Keck Medicine, Allen served as a financial director for Adventist Health Glendale and held funding positions above UC Irvine Health, including an interim financial director for UC Irvine Medical Center. Allen holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance from the University of Georgia and a certificate of cost and contributions from the School of Business at the University of Wisconsin.
