Disruptive technology – or innovations that considerably modify the established industries and markets – has become a key objective for Beijing while it is pressure for domination in emerging markets before Western powers like the United States.
The report published on Wednesday highlighted the continuous growth in scientific and technological innovation in China, especially in artificial intelligence and 5G technology.
The NDRC also presented its national economic and social development plan for 2025, which indicates that innovation was still a key objective for Beijing, in particular by cultivating “Future industries” like quantum technology and future energy sources.
