Lake Charles, Louisiana (KPLC) – Chennault International Airport is hosting a new tenant, NextGen Aviation.

The company specializes in technology to make small planes safer.

“What we are doing to general aviation planes is what some car stores do to conventional cars,” said NextGen Aviation owner David Sprouse.

The latest addition of Chennault airport reorganizes the older little planes, the latest technologies.

“The new technology that we install in these planes give drivers unprecedented pilots. Some of the planes we modernize when we have finished, we give them capacities that even line planes do not, “said Sprouse.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) manages more than 45,000 flights per day. Chennault executive director Kevin Melton said that the addition of NextGen Aviation to the airport can help make the flight even safer.

“General aviation is a safe world. I mean, there are strict processes, procedures and requirements implemented, but whenever you can upgrade and upgrade technology, or improved technology, it is a victory for everyone and will certainly make things safer, “said Melton.

Regarding general aviation, SPROUSE said that there was a shortage of airplane and maintenance companies of the Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi airports, but her business helps to fill this gap.

“Jackson is vacant, Natchez, Monroe, Opelousas, Alexandria, all these places do not have a store that does what I do, so there is a huge need in the region.”

Chennault plans to move NextGen Aviation to their own designated building while the company continues to develop.
