Cedar Rapids, Iowa (KCRG) – Chelsie Brown has been appointed new KCRG -TV9 sports director, leading the coverage of athletes, teams, competitions, and even more eastern Iowa.
Chelse Part of the KCRG-TV9 sports team since August 2021 when she joined as an assistant sports director, winning the Midwest 2024 broadcast journalism for sports reports. She was previously sports director of Wdie in Duluth and also worked as a news and sports journalist in Brainerd, Minnesota. She will replace Scott Saville who retired as a sports director after 29 years at the KCRG-TV9.
“Chelsie is better placed to continue and develop the excellent coverage of Eastern sports in Iowa to which KCRG viewers have been getting used to decades now,” said Thom Pritz, vice-president and general manager of KCRG-TV9, Thom Pritz. “Sport has the power to bring people together and inspire entire communities. With the leadership of Chelsie, we know that Kcrg Sports will be able to share these stories in news ballots and on our digital and social media platforms. ”
Chelsie graduated from Iowa University where she covered Iowa Hawkeyes as part of Daily Iowan TV and with Big Tenwork U. She is delighted to use her experience to continue presenting the excellent athletes, coaches and programs in eastern Iowa.
“Sport is much more than victories and losses or statistics,” said Brown. “More than anything, these are people and community. The athletes will always tell you that it takes support from their friends, family, teammates and coaches to achieve their goals. At the same time, these achievements all inspire us as a community to reach greatness together.
The new role of Chelsie will include regular sports segments in the newsletters of New KCRG at 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on weekdays, as well as for the organization of Iowa live on Monday at 6.30pm on KCRG 9.2 and in difficulty on KCRG applications.
As part of this decision, Sports Reporter Jack Lido I will go into the role of assistant sports director and the sports segments of anchoring in the news ballots of the weekend. Jack has also been with KCRG since 2021 as a sports journalist, helping to cover everything from the Field of Dreams game with consecutive Iowa women’s basketball races in the Final Four.
