Regarding their transfer activity in 2025, Chelsea does not intend to wait.
Chelsea has already concluded agreements with the Sports CP in Portugal this month for the midfielder Dario Essugo (joining this summer) And the winger Geovany Quenda (arriving in 2026), but this is only the start of their quest to get things done early.
Accept to sign a player outside a transfer window when it is not a bosman (players who are without contract in summer can open talks with a foreign club from January) occurs in sport, but it is unusual. Inevitably, this causes the question-why did Chelsea feel the need to do it and what are their intentions in the future?
Regarding this duo in particular, one of the reasons is quite obvious. They did not want to be beaten to acquire by someone else.
As Athletics revealed, Chelsea faced strong competition from Manchester United and a Premier League club currently in the first three for the signature of Quenda to highlight only two rivals for his signature. As for Essugo, Chelsea learned of five to six other teams who were pursuing the 20 -year -old and did not want to risk losing for him either.

But Chelsea Sources, who spoke to Athletics under the condition of anonymity To protect relationships, say that it is only a factor behind. The club aims to make the majority of their business, both the ins and outs, at the end of June this year. This includes two of the high -level acquisitions – a center -forward winger and a right foot winger.
Chelsea believes that they are in good position to do it because they have worked on these offers, just like with Quenda and Essugo, in advance for months. Lots of planning arises in this outing as well as possible. The desire is to have a group of 23 to 24 outside players who, according to the club, will be strong enough to participate in the Premier League, in the interior cuts and in the European competition if they qualify.
It is clearly ideal for each club to do their ins and outs as soon as possible in summer, so that a head coach has a team established with whom to work before the new season. The more a new player must settle in a new environment, the better. For example, Chelsea acknowledges that the signing of Record Club Buy Moises Caicedo, who joined Brighton for 115 million pounds Sterling in mid-August 2023, after the first match of the season has harmed his career in Chelsea at the start of his career.
Having unwanted players who are still lying around is not good for anyone either, and The distraction caused by all the speeches surrounding the “Bomb Squad” last summer was not ideal for the new head coach Enzo Maresca.
Thought is that sales finance the purchase of a central advantage and a winger, while being good for books in general. Players will always be ready too. For example, Mathis Amougou is already aligned to join Strasbourg.
But apart from Andrey Santos, who will be part of the team of the first team, Chelsea is convinced that they will be able to sell many of their current loans because they have benefited from playing elsewhere.
The events of last summer must leave a little questioning on this subject, if we consider that the unwanted trio Raheem Sterling, Armando Broja and Trevoh Chalobah only agreed loan agreements at the end of August. Ben Chilwell ended up staying there until it was a loan to Crystal Palace in January.
But Chelsea thinks they are in a better position than in previous years and have made a lot more bases in advance.

Chelsea’s intention in the future is to get things done earlier in summer windows, but it is particularly important this year due to their participation in the Club World Cup. It has been in the lead since last year.
Their first match is June 16 – Their new opponents must be confirmed after the Leon club has been withdrawn from the FIFA competition – And if they arrive in the final, their last match will be played on July 13.
Chelsea hopes they continue to lift the trophy but, each time their participation will end, they will give their players three weeks off. With the next Premier League season from August 16, there will be no time for a complete pre-season. They think there will be, at most, one to two weeks to prepare.
Thus, while Chelsea treats the club World Cup very seriously and wants to win it, they also consider it as a pre-season camp. This is part of their preparation for 2025-26. This means that the possibility that new signatures are with the team to train and learn the Maresca system even if they will not be involved in games. Chelsea wants them to be integrated.
Chelsea does not consider this as one-off and think they will be better placed to do things more and more of each year. The theory certainly sounds good.
Now it is a question of seeing if everything they hope to achieve can be done in practice.
