Heart of the Rockies Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed the Colorado Center for Lifestyle Medicine to its membership of a ribbon cup ceremony.
Lifestyle medicine is a medical specialty that uses therapeutic lifestyle interventions as a main modality to treat chronic conditions, including, but without limiting itself, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and obesity.
The owner bronwynn Radcliffe is a nurse practitioner of the family and frequented the Medical College of Virginia for his studies. Originally from Richmond, Virginia, she moved west in 2011, living five months in a Navajo reserve in Arizona before moving to Durango for 10 years. Colorado Center for Lifestyle Medicine opened its doors on September 22.
CCLM plunged deeply into the diseases and concerns of their patients … What is happening with you, when it started, how to correct it, “said Radcliffe.
The practice of lifestyle medicine also involves the six pillars of an entire and predominant plant food model, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connections.
Radcliffe said that she had been inspired to enter this practice because “I want to train using all my knowledge”. Radcliffe has studied traditional Western (pharmaceutical), functional medicine, which consists in finding the deep cause by patient tests and history, as well as body-spirit medicine, or how the psyche connects to the body and how thoughts are manifested physically. “When you know them, you can’t use them,” she said.
Radcliffe said that an aspect she likes the most was in charge of her practice. “I like me to spend more time with patients.”
