The new agreement establishes CBS Sports as the main long-term media partner of the new PAC-12 in the 2030-31 season, with additional partners to announce on a later date. As part of the prolonged partnership, football and male basketball matches for the new CAP-12 will be broadcast throughout the season on the CBS television network (and streaming on Paramount +) as well as on the CBS sports network.
“This first phase of the PAC-12 Media Rights partnership with CBS Sports is a huge step forward for our athletics department. It raises the visibility of our students athletes, highlights the passion of our fans and reflects the growing impact of our programs on a national scene,” said the director of athletics of the State of Colorado John Weber said. “This partnership offers a tremendous opportunity, including an excellent national exhibition for the Colorado State University. Working alongside Commissioner Teresa Gould, PAC-12 staff, and our Octagon partners were an excellent process while we continue to finalize the global partnerships in the rights of the conference media.”
The Colorado State is preparing to enter the PAC-12 on July 1, 2026 after an excellent 2024-25 season.
CSU was only one of the 14 country’s programs to participate in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament and male basketball, as well as qualifying for a bowl match. The Rams were the only group of five schools to achieve this feat.
The department has performed well in competition and class. CSU won five conference titles, played three appearances in the playoff series and played nine All-Americans, including the draw of the outdoor NCAA, the national champion Mya Lesnar. In class, students at the colorado state have surpassed the general population for the 11thth Consecutive semester and transported a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or more for the 23RD High semester.
CSU announced its Historical move to PAC-12 on September 12, 2024 Joining the current members of the state of Washington and Oregon State and the entrants of Boisse State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State and Utah State. This decision strengthened the state of Colorado, which was already one of the pre -eminent academic institutions as level 1 research campus and university of the state’s land subsidy.
The protruding facts of the extended partnership between CBS Sports and the new PAC-12 include:
- Annual football championship match on CBS and broadcast live on Paramount +
- Annual championship game of the male basketball tournament on CBS and paramount +
- A minimum of three regular football games on CBS and paramount + each season
- A minimum of three male basketball games in the regular season on CBS and paramount + each season
- Football and male basketball matches throughout the regular season on CBS Sports Network, with details to announce on a later date

“As the main media partner of the new PAC-12, the high-level coverage of CBS Sports will present the best of football and male basketball games of the conference each year on our platforms, including the championship game for the two sports,” said Dan Weinberg, Executive Vice-President, Programming, CBS Sports. “The extension of this partnership strengthens our multi-platus football and basketball calendar and, at a pivotal time for the new PAC-12, allows us to collaborate, develop the conference and expand its scope.”
Process of transformation of the new PAC-12
With today’s announcement, the new PAC-12 and Octagon continue the league transformation process and to build for its future with additional media partnerships. Although CBS Sports has been announced as an anchor and the first of what will include several long-term media partners for the League, other media rights partnerships for the new CAP-12 will be announced after the finalized agreements. The prolonged partnership with CBS Sports includes an additional football member, all the sports of the new PAC-12 conference.
All current and future members of the new PAC-12 participated in the decision to extend the long-term partnership with CBS Sports.
New CAP-12: looking towards the future
Last fall, the PAC-12 with the state of Oregon, the state of Washington and the six foreground universities and the leading athletics services, notably Boisse State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State and Utah State, launched plans to create a new PAC-12 conference. Although the new CAP-12 will not officially start until 2026-27, the 2024-25 campaign offered an overview of the current and global force from the new league from a competitive point of view and the brand, with protruding facts in recent seasons, in particular:
- Top Five of the Football League – In the last four seasons, considering and comparing to future conference compositions (in May 2025) from the 2026 season, the new PAC-12 had:
- Five of his seven programs ranked among the top 25 of the College of Football Subjects (CFP), or 71% of its programs, the fourth total percentage of programs classified in the TOP 25 of the CFP among all the conferences at that time.
- Six of its seven football programs ranked among the first 25 of Associated Press (AP), or 86% of its programs, the third highest total percentage of programs classified in the top 25 of the PA among all the conferences of this period.
- A collective classification of the average football index (FPI) of 74th among the 136 FBS teams in total (from the 2026 season), the fifth highest average FPI ranking among all the conferences
- Top Five of the Men’s Basketball League -In the past five seasons, considering and comparing to the future composition of the conference (in May 2025), starting with the 2026-27 season, the new PAC-12 had:
- The fourth best average net ranking among all conferences.
- Seven of his eight male basketball programs have made the NCAA male tournament since 2021, including two appearances in the national championship match
