Acosta is not alone. Throughout the country, Canadians cancel business trips, withdraw conferences and avoid future reservations in the United States while the backlash against President Donald Trump strikes the world of corporate travel.
At Flight Center Travel Group Canada, business trips by plane between the two countries decreased almost 40% in annual shift in February in the middle of a wave of Nixés plans, said Director General Chris Lynes.
“We certainly had an immediate influx of cancellations for conferences that were to be in the United States,” he said, adding that abandoned reservations reached “fever pitch” two months ago.

“People had a lot of anxiety to go to the United States due to anger towards the United States government.”

“One of the banking customers, we had canceled six programs in the United States,” said Lynes. The destinations included New York, Dallas and Washington, DC and in particular Las Vegas.
