A Calgary family is struggling to rebuild their life after a fire, triggered by an electric bike, destroyed the family home last month, in the community of Glendale.
Reve Burns said that the nightmare had started when it was suddenly aroused early on the morning of April 21.
“I just heard what I thought was like shots at home,” said Burns. “When I opened the door of my room, it was just shiny white. As, I knew it was a fire but I had never seen a white fire before and then Bang, Bang.”
It was at this point that Burns said that she had seen the family’s electric bike on fire.
“There were three tornadoes that came out of the bike and they licked the ceiling – and the ceiling boiled,” said Burns.
“It was really weird – the painting was just a bubbling cauldron, and the smoke, the smoke was raised on the ceiling.”
Reve Burns said that the fire that had destroyed their house had been launched by an electric bike – and that smoke and flames were like a scene from Armageddon.

Burns rushed to recover his two children in their room.
Her daughter was afraid and shouted and her son’s door was locked, but she finally managed to open it.
“I said,” Anakin, there is a fire, we have to get out of here, let’s go. “”
At that time, said Burns, smoke had become black and spread throughout the house.

Finally, they escaped, with one of their two dogs on the rear deck of the house, but the other dog – his son’s dog – was still inside the house on fire.

“I thought I could go back and get the dog. I set foot there and one of these cells (electric bike battery) exploded this large window in the dining room, “said Burns.
Resigned that they could not save the other dog – or their guinea pig – burns and his family fled from their house on fire.
Miraculously, when the firefighters arrived, they managed to save the remaining pets – but had to resuscitate their dog.

“Willard, our Berger King, he spent five days in the hospital. He has undergone very bad pulmonary damage, but he is alive and we are really happy. ”
Miraculously, the firefighters managed to save the two dogs of the fire family. Scruffles is ok but their other dog, Willard, has undergone serious pulmonary damage.

Unfortunately, the family had no tenant insurance, because they had recently selected their house but continued to rent it.
REGAN and her husband Shawn lived in their garage and their children stay with friends while they are trying to find a new place to rent.
But it was difficult.
“You talk to someone for a few days, you fill out a request – let’s go. You are going for a vision, there are five people, let’s go. We have good references, proof of income, we have adequate money to get a place and move forward. My husband has a good job. I really don’t know what else,” said Burns.
After the fire, Regan and her husband Shawn lived in their garage and their children stayed with friends while the family has trouble finding a new place to live.

So now their neighbors intensify to help. Some have bought new beds, pillows, blankets and grocery stores.
Others have made a cash donation and the veterinary clinic that treats their injured dog forgave $ 1,000. of the veterinary bill.
Brian Thomas, who has known Burns all his life, also began a Gofundme To help the family pay for their veterinarian bills and to afford a new place to live.
“It was terrible to look at, and you know that Reagan was a real champion, but even she is somehow completed under the stress that you know the stress,” said Thomas.
Burns says that all experience has taught him about the importance of the community, and it is grateful that people take the time to worry about it.
“It’s shitty things in life, all the difficult times you are going through a good time,” said Burns.
“It’s barbecue, watch my husband cut the grass, play with the children of the park – the little things are all. It doesn’t need to be big for us. It is a family and a good community. ”
