The Calgary fire service said that calls had started to arrive around 2 p.m. with heavy smoke and flames reports from a house located Bowdale crescent Northwest.
When the crews arrived, they were faced with several challenges fighting the fire.
Calgary firefighters were confronted with difficulties in bringing trucks into the region and a shortage of water when they responded to a house fire northwest of the northwest.

The house, which was vacant and on board, is nestled in a wooded area, along the short road, just below Sarcee Trail – an area annexed by the city of Calgary ago and with limited access to fire trucks.
The other challenge was the supply of water because the area does not have the same public services as the more recent areas of the city – forcing firefighters to transport water by truck.

“The double fire in size every 30 seconds, so even with a response time of five minutes, this fire has doubled 10 times,” said Carol Henke, head of public information for the CFD.
“So we have teams that try to set up a narrow road and we do not have the benefit of a constant water supply of a fire mouth, so being able to deliver uninterrupted water is incredibly important,” added Henke.
When the firefighters arrived at the house on Short Road in the northwest, there were strong smoke and flames from the building.

The firefighters had to stay on the spot during the night in the event of thrusts from hot spots.
