The Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) remains close in its three -month investigation into the allegations of harassment and discrimination made by a transgender athlete of the University of the island of Vancouver.
Now that the investigation has ended, the Abbotsford Columbia Bible Columbia is no longer the host of the 2025 basketball provinces.
In a press release, the University of the island of Vancouver thanked Pacwest “for its diligence and its commitment to respect its standards, and we express our gratitude to all those who supported this process”.

The investigation was launched by an incident that took place last year.
HARIETTE MACKENZIE played in a two-day weekend basketball tournament at the end of October.
The University of the island of Vancouver (VIU) played the Columbia Bible College on October 26 when, in the third quarter, Mackenzie was seized by an opposing player and thrown on the ground.
Mackenzie also alleges that Columbia head coach has cornered one of VIU’s sports employees after the match on October 25 and said Mackenzie should not be allowed to play.
“Unfortunately, situations like these are not new to me,” said Mackenzie in a video published on Instagram after the Games. “Throughout my playing career, I was released and attacked by everyone, from players to coaches to fans.”

Mackenzie is a transgender athlete who plays for sailors at the University of the island of Vancouver.
She went to social networks after the incident, telling her story about what happened.

“They don’t care that I started my transition to kindergarten, having never been male puberty,” said Mackenzie in his video.
“They do not care that my testosterone levels are a tenth of that of a cis-wife due to the absence of reproductive organs placing me in a significant competitive disadvantage, they don’t care. Instead, they are fed by their shared fanaticism and their ignorance. »»
During the investigation, VIU refused to play a pair of games in the regular season against CBC in January.
VIU officially asked for an exemption from these penalty games, given the current investigation at the time and the sensitive nature of the situation.
In a statement published on Monday, VIU said that the school was satisfied with the results of the Pacwest survey.
“The decision strengthens the importance of maintaining the principles of respect, equity and inclusion with college athletics,” said the press release.
“We are satisfied with the results of the survey, which reflect the values we defend at the University of the island of Vancouver.”

The Columbia Bible College, on the other hand, says that it is “deeply disappointed” of the association’s decision.
“We do not think that an appropriate process has been followed or that the results are correct. Consequently, we take measures to have Pacwest’s decision examined, “the college said in a statement.
“We will not comment any more for the moment.”
Pacwest published a brief statement on February 4 declaring that the investigation had officially ended and that a decision had been communicated to the two schools.
We do not know where the provincials will be held this year.
