A British Columbia actor has launched a boot camp for performers who want to learn more about acting in a Hallmark movie.
Many films are filmed in British Columbia and local actors feature prominently in popular productions. Twenty-one Featured films were shot dead in Vancouver last year.

In collaboration with the Vancouver Film School, Newton offered students an intensive course in the art of Christmas films.
“We talk about acting and writing and directing,” Newton said.
The actor was the first in his family to follow a career in entertainment, dabbling in theater and performing as a child after his parents left Trinidad.
“When they emigrated, they weren’t wealthy, so that speaks volumes about their desire to expose us to the performing arts,” Newton said.
He has been a teacher, actor, rapper, director and playwright over the years and his experience helps new talent get their first taste of much of BC’s film industry.
“It’s a vital part of Vancouver’s industry,” Newton said.
