Earlier this month, outgoing US President Joseph Biden announced the last series of recipients from the National Medal of Sciences and the National Technology and Innovation Medal.
During a ceremony held in the White House on January 3RDBiden and the nation have honored 14 recipients of the national science medal and nine recipients of the National Medal of Technology and Innovation.
Created by the National Science Foundation (NSF) in 1959, the National Medal of Sciences recognized exceptional contributions in a range of scientific disciplines. The national technology and innovation medal, established by the US Congress in 1980, honors those whose work has directly contributed to economic growth and strengthening the country’s global competitiveness.
This year’s winners include John Dabiri from California Institute of Technology, Feng Zhang from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Jennifer Doudna from the University of California in Berkeley.
