Picayune, Miss. (WLOX) – While residents of the coast count on Tuesday fatty days, a company has been occupied since the start of the King cake season.
“We started in an 800 square feet building in downtown Picayune,” said Sherri Thigpen, owner of Paul’s Pastry Shop. “A small rental place with a mixer and two tables.”
After more than 50 years of activity, Paul’s pastry is still cooked and serves attractive cakes and treats in an installation of 10,600 square feet.
“We grew up twice and I bought it from my parents in 1988, and in 1989, we bought a second location and it was about 5,500 square feet and we were there until 2005. We have Bought this shopping center then Katrina struck, but in 2006, we were able to open everything in October 2006. ”
Tuesday Gras is a high season for Thigpen, which says that the bakery is home to the original cream cheese and the King cake filled with fruit, making thousands of people a day.
“I have a night team that is between but they are there from 6 o’clock in the evening to like 4 am. So when these girls arrive in about 7 years, there are racks lined up full of royal cakes ready to leave. »»
In the corridors of Paul’s pastry, memories highlight not only the start of the business but also pivotal moments and family memories.
From Tuesday fat to weddings, birthdays and more, Thigpen says it was always a goal to share these special moments with customers and always keep things creative.
