Springfield, MA (WGGB / WSHM) – Nearly 100 positions were eliminated at Baystate Health.
The health system announced Tuesday that the 98 posts, which were eliminated this week, were corporate positions through Baystate and this figure represents less than one percent of their total workforce. “Although some of the affected positions are currently vacant and will no longer be filled, there are individuals leave the Baystate,” they said in a statement. They also noted that they are trying to find alternative positions for affected employees and those who do not go to another Baystate health post will receive departure and support departure services, including access career transitional services.
In an effort to become more effective, Baystate said that they have been working on new organizational structures and decision -making processes since October and, in November, they have started a “transformational course” of $ 225 million with their lese of work management control. This led to “active work components” in several facets of the operation, including the workforce, the supply chain, the pharmacy and the management of the income cycle. “Our disciplined concentration on basic operations and strategic growth must be part of our daily routine,” they explained.
While also announcing the reduction of the workforce on Tuesday, Baystate Health noted that they “continue to recruit, hire and aggressively retain doctors, providers of advanced practices and caregivers on the bed”.
“The path of health of Baystate Health is both clear and certain. Our governance and our leadership are aligned and firmly in our activities, and our mission and our values always guide our work. This route offers us the possibility of remaining an independent system – which is ruled locally and managed – which will be able to invest $ 1.2 billion over the next six years in our operations and our growth, “added Baystate Health.
