PELLA-Establishing a new record for the second consecutive year, 11 students-athletes from the Central College were included on an impressive national list of student-athletes appointed for their academic and sporting achievements announced in a recent issue of various magazine: from in Higher Education.
The Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Awards program is designed to honor the undergraduate students who excelled in class as well as on the sports field. Inspired by the legend of Tennis Arthur Ashe, Jr.’s commitment to education as well as his love for the American college and universities game are invited to participate in this annual award program by offering their exceptional sports scholars. In addition to their sporting capacity and their school performance. Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports specialists demonstrate a commitment to community service and student leadership.
The appointments are reduced to 10 male semi-finalists and 10 women. The process then reduces the field to four finalists before a male nomine and a nominated woman receive the title of Arthur Ashe Jr., sporting scholars of the year. Male athlete of the county of the University of Maryland-Baltimore Anjayouwa O. “Jayo” Adegboyo was the national male winner while the athlete of female athletics of the University of Oregon, Jaida Ross, was the winner.
