It was a record year for engineers in 2024 to 25, with four female teams for the first time MIT of national titles of the NCAA Division III.
After winning their fourth consecutive regional championship of the NCAA East, the cross-country team won their first national title in November with American performances by Christina Crow ’25 (photo), Rujuta Sane ’26 and Kate Sanderson ’26. In March, the indoor athletics team scored 49 points – the most of all time by a female MIT team during a national indoor meeting – to win their first national title. A week later, the Swimming and diving team won three individual titles and four relays and won its first national title. Kate Augustyn ’25 ended her career at MIT with four individual national championships and four relays and 27 honors in America. Then in May, the outdoor athletics team claimed their first national championship, putting the first to sweep the national titles of division III in female cross-country and indoors and outdoors of the same year.
