EXCLUSIVE:: Evoke EntertainmentThe management and production company formerly known as the Entertainment Cartel, signed a award -winning African director Omotoso.
Omotoso is best known for Disney film Increase (aka The Greek monster), based on the life of the NBA champion, Giannis Antetokounmpo. Released in 2022, the film is ranked 91% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Currently, the filmmaker is completing the work in Johannesburg BrandA Netflix Africa series, on which he is executive producer and director.
Born in Nigeria, Omotoso studied drama at the University of Cap and produced and made five feature films, including award -winning films Man on earth (Official selection Toronto and Berlin 2011) and Vaya (Tiff 2017). Released by the board of Ava Duvernay, the latter hold together three stories of small city characters immersed in the intimidating, attractive and dangerous world of Johannesburg and Soweto.
Omotoso is also the creator, director and showrunner of one of the first original series based in Netflix Africa, The courageousand currently produces the documentary of the NBA Africa League, Ball. He also currently wraps post-production on another series based on action for Netflix Africa, which he directs and produces, and in discussion to continue his role for a second season.
Founded in 2011, Evoke REPPPS Showrunners, creators, writers, directors, producers, animators and production companies in cinema, television and new media. The company has produced and funded several series since its creation, including the successful series Pet For Frishder / AMC, the Family Animated series Twelve forever For Netflix, the Universal / Syfy series Day of the dead,, Links that For television, and A place in the sun for discovery. Currentially, they are in production Broken bearAn adult animated series for Tubi.
