Washington: Monumental Sports & Entertainment has appointed AJ Jones II as executive vice-president and responsible for strategic and business communications, in force on Monday.
In the newly created role, Jones is responsible for the development, execution and amplification of the brand and the corporate company of MSE, ownership, financial investors, investors and community communications, the company said in a press release.
Jones will also supervise the wider relationships of investors and the engagement strategies of the company’s stakeholders in addition to serving as a member of the MSE management team.
“I was fortunate to be in just about all the big verticals, when we think of communications, public relations or companies in general,” said Jones. “The only area that has always had an acute interest and a strong interest is the arena of media sports and entertainment. When we think of the future of commitment and the future of the economy of experience, this is where everything happens. ”
Jones will appear to the founder, president, managing partner and CEO Ted Leonsis.
The position is one of the most extensive roles that Jones has assumed, he said, given his list of communication responsibilities and participation in various aspects of all the organizations of the organization. Jones noted that the company focuses on the commercial impact, the impact of fans and the positioning of the company to be potentially made public.
Based in DC, the role is also a return for Jones, whose family has lived in the national capital since they moved there in 2000 despite Jones who founded it in other cities.
Jones underlined that it is an exciting period to enter the sports area with growing interest in the live sporting content of streamers like Netflix and the new fashion and other partnerships.
His objectives for the role include the creation of personalized immersive experiences for fans.
“Loyalty and fandom fans are always the key kpi against which we are looking to move,” he said.
Kate Bedingfield recently supervised the communication function at MSE as communications vice-president. She left the company in 2019, later joining the Biden White House After being communications director of the Biden-Harris campaign. Bedingfield is now a Partner at the Brunswick Group.
Jones joins MSE of Starbucks Coffee Company, where he worked through leadership roles, more recently as EVP and business business manager. Before that, he was EVP and Chief Communications and Public Affairs.
During his mandate, Jones led Global Communications, employee communications and Starbucks’ social media platforms, business and investor communications, communications and experiences of brand producers, Starbucks entertainment, world government affairs, social foundation and starbucks teams in the world. His last day with the company was March 7.
Dominic Carr replaced Jones as communications director when he started his new role in early 2024.
In October, Starbucks gathered global communications and business affairs as a single team to create a clear responsibility and a single point of contact to manage businesses and stakeholders’ commitment, said a Starbucks spokesperson.
Carr was then appointed responsible for the Global Communications and Corporate Affairs, continuing to run for the CEO of Starbucks, Brian Niccol. At that time, Jones began to introduce himself to Carr and continued to direct corporate affairs, including the government and public policies, the community and social impact, the Starbucks Foundation and the Elders’ teams.
Starbucks will not fulfill the position of business business manager, confirmed the company. Existing corporate business leaders will report to Carr.
“Starbucks was wonderful for me. I had five CEOs in four years. I arrived as SVP when I started and I raised and widened and grew enormously,” said Jones. “I have seen business transformations of all kinds of different ways and methods and I have the impression that it’s time to be able to jump here and be able to do it.”
Before Starbucks, Jones was responsible for business and chief communications at Vanda Pharmaceuticals, EVP and head of world public affairs in BCW, now Burson, and in chief of WK Kellogg Foundation.
Prosek Partners is the partner of the MSE public relations and corporate communications agency. The company started working with the company about nine months ago.
