The AHA highlighted the importance of community health workers at the Common Health Coalition’s inaugural conference. Common health challenge held on December 9.
“Community health workers play a vital role within many hospitals and health systems, serving as important links between providers and underserved communities,” said Michelle Hood, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the AHA. “By increasing collaboration and communication across the health system, community health workers expand and facilitate access to care, support patient outcomes, and increase cultural competency and health literacy.” »
The AHA, along with AHIP, the Alliance of Community Health Plans, the American Medical Association and Kaiser Permanente, is a founding partner of the Coalition, which was created last year to strengthen health care partnerships health and public health.
