With Alexander Ovechkin Go beyond the goal record of Wayne GretzkyThis gives us a chance to consider some of the most sacred records in the history of sport. Cal Ripken’s consecutive sequence of consecutive matches, the Tom Brady’s career in career meters, Kareem Abdul -Jabbar’s career score – Sorry, it’s Lebron James’ score record now. See? Nothing lasts forever.
Well, almost nothing. Some records are untouchable, thanks to how sports have changed during decades – or the century – because they have been put. Others were potentially breakable at that time for the same reason – the way athletes and the strategy have improved over the decades. We have therefore divided these recordings into three categories: absolutely unbreakable, probably unbreakable and definitively breakable. So which of the most sanctified sports records will fall one day and which will remain long after everyone who plays now retired?

Absolutely unbreakable
It is the recordings that will resist the test of time thanks to the talents of those who have set them, combined with the changing sports eras. (Note: we have left aside certain records which are obviously out of reach – think of the 511 victories of Cy Young, or the 10 John Wooden championships in 12 years, or the 200 victories of the Nascar series by Richard Petty – simply because the level of competition is so much greater.) The biggest obstacle to registration breakers is not the talent, the characteristics of the lane For athletes and teams, the crafts of the multiplied dicamine are diminoss, for the two athletes.

Baseball: the 4,256 pink pete success in career
Freddie Freeman is the active leader of the tubes, with 2,270 to April 6. Freeman makes an average of 181 strokes a year, which means that he will have to play at this level until the end of the forties to catch Rose, who had 172 strokes in his 41 -year -old season and played until the age of 45. Not only should you hit, but you have to hit a long time. On the basis of longevity alone, Rose is untouchable because no active player is even in 1,000 of the number of games he played.
Baseball: 2,632 consecutive games from Cal Ripken played
If Matt Olson, the current active leader of the consecutive games of baseball, played each match from now on the 2036 season, he always would not pass Ripken. No player will play all the games, day after day, for more than 16 years in a row, without injury, without being released or retired. It may be the most impressive record of everyone.

Female tennis: Margaret Court’s 24 (pre-open) and the 23 victories of the Grand Chelem de Serena Williams
Short and Williams were titans at their eras, and there is little chance that a current player has to catch either. The active leader is iga świątek, who already has five major victories at 23 years old. But four of them came to the French Open, and she had very little success in Wimbledon or the Australian Open. Anyone who can challenge leaders will have to succeed in the four sites – and have the longevity of publishing victories for years.
Golf: Jack Nicklaus (18) and Patty Berg (15) major victories
The problem with which all the challengers are confronted with Nicklaus and Berg is that the talent swimming pool through the golf course is simply too deep to allow a single player to establish the domination necessary to challenge them. Brooks Koepka, for example, leads all active men – despite Phil Mickelson – with five majors, and there is no chance that he can exceed the ground for 14 other majors.

NFL: The 22,895 career reception projects by Jerry Rice
Think of what Jerry Rice combined: innate talent, sustainability And Two of the biggest quarters in the history of the NFL. The closest active player – now that Julio Jones is retired – is Deandre Hopkins, who is at nearly 10,000 yards behind the rice at 12,965. Hopkins is on average 1,238 yards per season, which means that he should play another eight years, up to 41 years to catch rice. All the respect due to Mr. Hopkins and other experienced receivers, but there is no way that a 41 -year -old man is again in competition with 23 -year -old cornerbacks in the modern NFL.
NHL: 2,857 career points by Wayne Gretzky
Of course, Ovechkin said that the Gretzky goals’ brand, but the overall record for Gretzky points – goals + assists – is untouchable. How great Gretzky was? He would always be the leader of the points of all time even if he had never scored a single goal in his career. Active points leaders are Sidney Crosby (1,678) and Ovechkin (1,616). Crosby on average 102 points during an 82 game season, which means that he should add another 12 years to his 20 -year career to catch Gretzky. We are confident to say that it will not happen.

Probably unbreakable
Many things have to go for a long time for these recordings to fall. We do not say that it is impossible, but – to one degree or another – it’s close to that.

Baseball: 762 Carrieux de Barry Bonds
Two active players are in the conversation here: Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani. After his 32 -year -old season, the bonds amounted to 374 circuits. The judge, who already had six dingers this season, was 315. After his 29 -year season, Bonds had 259; Ohtani had 225. They are therefore in the stadium, so to speak. The warning, of course, is that the obligations (for any reason) have improved over the years. He reached 40 in a season once in their twenties, then seven times in thirties. Can judge and / or Ohtani increase in a similar way? This is the question.
NFL: The seven Tom Brady Super Bowl titles
You know who is online for this: Patrick Mahomes, although he has already left two chances to exceed him. Mahomes already has three Lombardi trophies, and could / should get several others. Will he capture enough to match Brady? There are many things out of control, but as we saw during the last half-receiver, everything that is under the control of Mahomes tends to move. Can the big question: Can Kansas City keep a team together by his side?

NFL: 18,355 yards on the ground of Emmitt Smith in career
Here is a pure durability record that could be broken due to a combination of stronger athletes and 17 games (first 18) NFL calendar. Derrick Henry is your current active chief at 11,423 yards; It has an average of 1,428 yards in a 17 game season. Smith played for 15 years; Henry has played for nine years, and he would be at Smith in five years, assuming that he remains healthy and continues to produce. There is always “IFS” when you count on NFL players to stand for long periods, but it is a record within the reach of modern players.
NASCAR: The seven Richard Petty Cup Championships, Dale Earnhardt and Jimmie Johnson
Nascar’s current eliminatory format allows a sufficient random for a pilot to win the title without necessarily being the best driver of the year. Joey Logano is currently three titles at 34, which is more than Earnhardt and one less than mean at this age. If Logano wins the right handful of races at the right time, he can add a few others to this total.

NBA: LeBron James’ 42,000 career points
Technically, LeBron James sets a new record every time he scores. But as for anyone who could catch it – the best bet could be Luka Dončić. James’ teammate follows him by almost 30,000 points, but Dončić has – incredibly enough – published the third of the NBA career behind Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain. He would need about 15 years at a high level to catch James, but assuming that he remains reasonably in good health – which is not a safe bet – Dončić could make things interesting.
Baseball: 73 Home Runs of Barry Bonds in a single season
The six best circuit brands of a single season come from the era of steroids, via obligations, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa. But the players of the current time also begin to set up figures – 53 from Pete Alonso, 54 from Matt Olson and Shohei Ohtani, 58 and 62 of the Aaron judge. It seems possible, if not necessarily probable, that one of today’s slow will have a season for ages.

Male tennis: the 24 Grand Chelem of Novak Djokovic
Djokovic should probably have 50 big slam, but he had the misfortune to play at an era with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. His loss is the gain in the future – in particular Carlos Alcaraz, who already has four great chelems at the age of 21.
At only 27 years old, Max Verstappen has time to catch and pass Lewis Hamilton for most victories in the history of F1 Racing (Mario Renzi – Formula 1 / Formula 1 via Getty Images)

Definitely cashable
It is the records of all time that will fall, sooner or later. There is no longer much left.
Formula 1: The 105 wins of Lewis Hamilton
Max Verstappen has won 64 victories, including 54 in the past four years. F1 is a racing sport, and although Red Bull can face opposite winds in the years to come, Verstappen still appears on a trajectory that will make him pass Hamilton in the relatively close future. He may not win 15 races, as in 2022, or 19, as in 2023, but 43 other victories should be at hand … As long as Verstappen remains interested in prosecution.

NFL: 89,214 Tom Brady passing yards in career
The more the NFL is attached to the attack and the game of passes, the more likely it is that the career marks like Brady to fall. Aaron Rodgers is the active leader at 62,952 yards, but it is unlikely that he takes enough snaps during the rest of his career to catch Brady. Mahomes now amounts to 32,52 and would need to play at a high level in the forties at the start of the forties to catch Brady – a huge demand but not impossible. Add the possibility of an 18th game soon, and the task becomes much more feasible.
