The EU has a long -standing partnership with GAVI, contributing to more than 3.2 billion euros since 2003 to advance global immunization. This includes significant support thanks to the commitment of Covax Advance Market and the financial instruments of the European Investment Bank, being part of the world response of the EU coronavirus.
Together, the EU and its member states – in a Team Europe Approach – Stay the biggest contributors to GAVI, providing more than 6.5 billion euros during the GAVI 5.0 strategic period (2021-2025). In September 2024, the committee announced a new Financing commitment of 260 million eurosFor the years 2026-2027. Funds will contribute to Gavi 2030’s objective to help protect 500 million children worldwide, strengthen vaccination systems and stimulate global health security to increase the desire to respond to disease epidemics.
The 2025 promise summit is based on the successful launch of the investment opportunity of GAVI 6.0 in June 2024 in Paris, co-organized by France and the African Union, which collected $ 2.4 billion for the financing target of $ 9 billion in GAVI.
