A teenager who pleaded guilty of manslaughter guilty in a deadly group attack against a homeless in Toronto was sentenced to 15 months of probation, the judge taking into account the time she has already spent in detention and the “illegal” searches she has suffered.
The girl pleaded surprised in February when she and another teenager were tried for second degree murder in the death of Kenneth Lee, 59.
The teenager was 16 years old at the time of the incident, which took place in a paring in downtown Toronto in December 2022 and would have involved eight girls.

The judge condemned the girl today after the crown and the defense agreed jointly sentence during the submissions earlier this month, recognizing the 288 days that the girl had already spent in detention and six strip sequisitions that she was forced to undergo.
The police arrested eight girls aged 13 to 16 in the case and had charged them with second degree murder, but seven of them have since pleaded for less accusations.
Five pleaded guilty of guilty manslaughter, one for assault and an assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily lesions.
A girl is waiting for a verdict later this month after having concluded a trial on the judge. She tried to plead guilty of guilty manslaughter, but her plea was rejected by the crown.
