THE The Senate voted on Saturday morning To confirm Kristi Noem as the interior secretary of President Donald Trump, installing a long -standing ally of Trump at the head of an agency on the point of playing a central role in the repression of the Promised Immigration of the President .

The vote was bipartite, 59-34, and Noem was sworn in Saturday later.

Noem has been governor of southern Dakota since 2019 and is a former legislator of the States and member of the Congress of four terms. It will now be responsible for internal security, a sprawling service that oversees agencies such as American customs and border protection, immigration and customs application, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the American secret services.

In a press release after the vote on Saturday, Noem said that it would favor securing the southern border and the repair of “our broken immigration system”.

“I will work every day to keep all Americans safe. One of my main priorities is to carry out the mandate of President Trump of the American people to secure our southern border and repair our broken immigration system, “said Noem statement.

“The Trump administration will once be emptying our good men and women in the application of laws to do their jobs and withdraw criminal foreigners and illegal gangs from our country,” she continued.

Asset began His second mandate by adopting a series of immigration executive actions which included the national emergency declaration on the South American border and the start of the process to end the citizenship of the right of birth, a decision which has aroused almost immediate legal challenges.

In addition to immigration, Noem addressed a range of other questions during his confirmation audience. In response to the questions of the Democrats, she said that under her direction “there will be no political bias” with regard to help in the event of a disaster and that we must be put on domestic terrorism, affirming That “local terrorism is increasing” because it called the attack of deadly New Year truck in New Orleans “a horrible event”.

Noem’s national profile grew up during the Covid-19 pandemic, when she rejected mask mandates and social distancing, and she was at some point considered as a leading competitor as a potential running mate for Trump in his attempt to win back the White House.

But Noem ended up in the controversy last year after the publication of an extract from a book in which she revealed She had shot a family dogA 14 -month -old Wirehair pointer named Cricket, in a gravel pit because the dog was “unexploited” and “dangerous for anyone with which she came into contact”.

Noem defended his actions and argued that these anecdotes were supposed to show how much she is able to make some of the most horrible jobs in life if necessary.

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry poster Photos on X of Noem took an oath by the Supreme Court Judge Clarence Thomas on Saturday. JD Vance’s office told journalists that the vice-president had not participated “due to a timetable conflict”.
