When asked if the operation would dissuade his other employees from coming to work on Friday, he replied: “Yes, exactly. This is the question. This does not really help my business, obviously or any business.”
In a joint statement Thursday evening, Democratic Sens. Cory Booker and Andy Kim, from New Jersey, said They were “deeply concerned about the news of an ice raid in Newark today”.
They said their offices had contacted the Ministry of Homeland Security.
“Actions like this are betrayed in all our communities – and our broken immigration system requires solutions, not tactics of fear,” the press release said.
