A company called Stars Entertainment requests authorization to open a family entertainment center in the shopping center on Lorna, in the flagship space currently occupied by Bargain Hunt.
A floor plan for the space of 54,800 square feet subjected to the city shows 16 bowling slopes, a trampoline/arcade area, a “blaster gel” room, two large activity/parties, five more rooms Small for the holidays and a kitchen and catering area.
Hoover’s planning and zoning commission voted on January 13 to recommend that the Hoover municipal council approves the request, and the question is now planned for a public hearing and a vote on February 17.
Johnny Jones, a representative of the company who addressed the zoning council, said that the company was the owner of the trampoline park altitude at 8581 Helena Road in Pelham and that she was building a center of Family entertainment of 45,000 square feet in Moody.
Jones said he grew up in the Hoover/Vestavia Hills region and thinks that this community and this location are perfectly suitable for an entertainment center.
The property is zoned as a community business district C-2. The municipal planner of Hoover, Mac Martin, said that municipal staff did not provide for any problem with the proposed development. This is an area already of a commercial nature and which should not cause problems for neighboring residential areas, said Martin.
The schedules offered are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to midnight on Sunday.
One of the conditions that the zoning council included in its recommendation is that stars entertainment renovates the landscape islands of the parking lot. The shopping center originally had a landscaped maintenance plan which included trees, but over time, the trees were removed from the inner part of the parking lot, said Martin. The proposal requires the company to replace four trees on the existing landscape islands and adds seven additional islands.
