I’m a celebrity… Get me out of here! kicked off this week for 2025, and there’s already been plenty of drama. Of some people originally I wasn’t happy with the lineup of other fans speculating that there is already a potential jungle romance from the start, the season promises to be memorable.
While many people have taken to social media to complain about the programming (we all know the classic “who?” comments people love to drop on these shows) Yahoo Lifestyle can now reveal that a major international celebrity was set to appear on this year’s season that people would surely have recognized.
According to an insider, Spice Girls’ Mel B was originally supposed to set foot in the jungle, but had to pull out at the last minute, leading to TikTok star and comedian Max Balegde taking her place.
Spice Girl was supposed to appear on I’m A Celeb 2025
The source tells Yahoo Lifestyle“Melanie Brown was supposed to be the show’s England international,” with money for the former Spice Girl set at $500,000 for two weeks, and more if she stayed in the jungle.

“Mel was not put off by life in the jungle and would have been happy to share the campsite with her former Masked singer co-host Hughesy, but withdrew for personal reasons,” the source explained. “The money was good, the opportunity was good, but sometimes these things fail.”
Max Balegde sent as replacement
Fans of the series were left perplexed on the evening of I’m a celebrity first, when two clues – “top chart-topper” and “stadium superstar” didn’t seem to match any of the celebrities entering the jungle. “It looks like this year’s clues were released before the ink was dry,” our source said.
Oddly enough, Mel B’s replacement, Max, shares her initials. Even if few people know about Max’s fame, producers are convinced that he will conquer Australia. “He could easily go all the way and win this match,” our source said.
I’m A Celebrity viewers slam ‘worst line-up ever’
While we wait to see which celebrities win over Australian fans this year, that hasn’t stopped annoyed people from calling 2025 the “worst” lineup ever.

“Might as well call it ‘I’m a regular person and happy to find work,'” one person joked. “I don’t even know half of it,” added another. “This is your worst line-up ever…the ratings are coming in,” wrote a third.
“Ahhh, the annual ‘I haven’t seen them in years and who are they flying’ game,” someone else said.
