ENTERTAINMENT: Muses Project will dance and sing “Breath of Heaven” in 4 concerts | The Arkansas Democratic Gazette

MUSIC

“Breath of Heaven”

The Muses project interprets “a message of peace, hope and joy, through the beauty of song, speech and dance” as it calls it “Breath of Heaven” the organization’s annual “Voices of Angels” sacred classical Christmas concerts:

◼️ 6 p.m. Thursday, student performance at Muses Cultural Arts Center, 428 Orange St., Hot Springs. Admission is free for artists and performers, students and teachers, who must call (501) 609-9811 to register.

◼️ 7 p.m. Friday, Woodlands Auditorium, 1101 DeSoto Blvd., Hot Springs Village. Tickets are $35.

◼️ 3 p.m. Saturday and December 15, Cultural Center of Arts Muses. $35. Call (501) 609-9811 or visit themeusesproject.org.

◼️ 7 p.m. Dec. 16, Westover Hills Presbyterian Church, 6400 Kavanaugh Blvd. in Little Rock. Entrance is free. Call (501) 663-6383.

The program will consist mainly of sacred compositions by Benjamin Britten, Antonio Vivaldi, Edwin Fissinger and Caroline Shaw, in contemporary arrangements with lyrics in French, Latin, German and English.

Concerts at the chapel

Concerts on the program this week at Anthony Chapel at Garvan Forest Gardens550 Arkridge Road, Hot Springs:

◼️ The Village Choir offers a program of sacred and secular seasonal music entitled “The Joy of Christmas”, Monday at 6:30 p.m. Tickets – $20, $20 for members, $15 for children 12 and under – include admission to the Garvan Gardens Christmas Lights. Visit tinyurl.com/mpdx9ymx.

◼️ The Ringers of Hope Bell Choir at Ouachita Hills Academy in Amity performs “the sound of English handbells, inspiring orchestral music and delightful vocal renditions of Christmas classics and modern compositions” (according to a press release) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday . ◼️ Hot Springs musicians Allie Anderson, Levi Wilson and Doug Lackey, who make up “Allie Anderson & Friends,” perform Christmas classics and contemporary favorites at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Tickets are $30, $20 for members, $15 for youth 12 and under, and include entry to that evening’s Holiday Lights. Visit tinyurl.com/35psj97e.

COMEDY

In the Zone

Comedian Joe Machi will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Starr Theater at Fayetteville’s Walton Arts Center, 495 W. Dickson St. It is part of the center’s Comedy Zone series. Tickets cost between $25 and $35. Call (479) 443-5600 or visit waltonartscenter.org.

Holiday Open House

The Rogers Historical Museum, 313 S. Second St, at Cherry Street, hosts its 24th holiday open house10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday on the theme “Oh, the Christmas tree”. It includes tours of the 1895 Hawkins House, decorated to show how a middle-class family living in Rogers at the turn of the 20th century prepared their home for the holiday season, as well as seasonal crafts and a letter at -Santa Writing Station. The Friends of the Rogers Historical Museum are offering Christmas refreshments. Santa will read “A Visit from St. Nicholas” by Clement Moore (aka “Twas the Night Before Christmas”) at 1 p.m., followed by a Christmas carol. Entrance is free.
