To help students meet these prerequisites, master’s and doctoral programs in health professions may be recognized by the ACLM as Partial Or Complete Academic pathway programs.
Partial academic pathway programs must include a course that covers at least 25 percent of the Basic skills in interdisciplinary lifestyle medicine published in 2022. Students graduating from partial academic pathway programs have met the conference attendance prerequisites to take the Lifestyle Medicine certification exam. There are currently 72 partial academic pathway programs across the country.
Full academic pathway programs integrate lifestyle medicine throughout the curriculum, have at least one faculty member certified in lifestyle medicine, and have a Member Lifestyle Interest Group (LMIG) on campus. ACLM provides the “Board Review of Foundations of Lifestyle Medicine“courses students in full academic pathway programs at deeply discounted rates.
