John Johnson, a researcher at the Lubar Center for Public Policy and Civic Education, has been appointed to Milwaukee Business Journal 40 Under 40, a selection of the city’s best up-and-coming professionals.
Johnson specializes in applying the research practices of academia and data science to the policy issues facing Milwaukee and Wisconsin. His areas of interest include housing, demographics and political trends. Additionally, Johnson collaborates with Charles Franklin, professor of law and public policy and director of the Marquette Law School Poll, on all Marquette University Law School polling projects.
Johnson’s research has been published in numerous national and regional publications, including The Atlantic, The economistTHE Financial Times, WisPoliticsWUWM and Wisconsin Public Radio. His writings appear in Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Urban Milwaukee and the Marquette Lawyer review.

- Michael Nguyen, executive director of Teach For America Milwaukee
- Maria Van Hoorn, assistant secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Tourism
