What this means: The NFIB has a list of top small business priorities to share with the new Congress to highlight the most important issues. Listen to the NFIBs Small business Dilapidated podcast to learn more about the NFIB’s legislative priorities.

Our opinion: “It’s going to be very busy and very active. When you see a new administration change hands with a new president coming in, Congress and the new administration are going to be very busy trying to pass a lot of priorities – things that were talked about in the election. – Brad Close, FIIB President

The NFIB provides a platform for independent small business owners to speak out on public policy issues that affect their business. As a new Congress and administration take shape, NFIB provides lawmakers with a list of top small business legislative priorities, based on what NFIB members voted for in member ballots.

NFIB’s top legislative priority is to stop a massive small business tax hike at the end of the year if the 20% small business tax deduction expires. This deduction is crucial and in a recent NFIB Research Center survey, 81% of small business owners think it is important. Other key legislative policies in the NFIB Growth Agenda include:

  • Work
  • Regulatory reform and heavy regulations
  • Health care
  • Market competition

The Comprehensive Growth Agenda provides a more in-depth look at the specific legislation that will impact small businesses. The last podcast episode “Small Business Growth Policy Priorities for 2025” features NFIB President Brad Close and Vice President of Federal Government Relations Jeff Brabant discussing these topics and more!
