Collingwood and Blue Mountains OPP say an investigation has revealed a former student’s plans to threaten a local school were “elaborate and well-documented.”
Last September, police announced that a person had reported a threat Collingwood Collegiate Institute (CCI) by a former student.
Police said the threat was made in March but was not imminent.
“However, because the OPP takes all threats to public safety seriously, an investigation was initiated under the direction of the Huronia West OPP Criminal Unit and then under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) of the Ontario Provincial Police,” said a police press release.

On September 11, 2024, officers searched a Clearview Township home where they found two firearms and several high-capacity magazines that police said were improperly stored and unlicensed.
They then stopped a vehicle in Collingwood and arrested the two men inside.
Police said a search of the vehicle also turned up two replica firearms, bear spray, pepper spray, a knife and brass knuckles.
One man was charged with making death threats as well as a long list of weapons-related charges, while the other was charged with possession of a prohibited device for a dangerous purpose and violation of a release order.
Police said officers continued their investigation into the threats after the arrests in September.
“Following the two arrests on September 11, 2024, a search warrant for an electronic device revealed additional details, which would indicate that the plan to harm students was elaborate and well documented,” a statement from the police.
One of the suspects, who is now 19 years old, was also charged with attempted murder, attempted assault with a weapon and several other firearms-related charges.
Police said they were working with the local council as well as secondary school staff to provide support to the victims.
