NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull Receives Toothbrushes, Toothpaste and Toys Donated by Kings County Civil Court Judges
A group of eight Kings County Civil Court judges made a significant contribution to NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull, donating 1,500 toothbrushes, 300 tubes of toothpaste and toys to support the oral health of local children.

A group of eight Kings County Civil Court judges have made a significant contribution to dental and oral health care in the community, donating 1,500 toothbrushes, 300 tubes of toothpaste and toys to support oral health -local children’s dental at NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull. . The Honorable Brian L. Gotlieb, Civil Court Judge of the City of New York, Kings County, along with Department of Dentistry staff, was on hand to distribute the items to children attending their early morning appointments at the pediatric dental clinic. Motivated by a desire to give back, the group of Kings County Civil Court judges came together to honor and recognize National Children’s Dental Health Month. Originally celebrated as “Children’s Dental Health Day” in February 1941, this annual celebration, sponsored by the American Dental Association (ADA), highlights the importance of children’s dental and oral health. Judges Ellen Edwards, Jill Epstein, Pamela Fynes, Brian Gotlieb, Edward King, Delsia Marshall, Javier Ortiz, Dweynie Paul and Lola Waterman donate more than 9,000 toothbrushes and 2,000 tubes of toothpaste to pediatric dental clinics in Brooklyn.
“On behalf of NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull, we sincerely thank the Kings County Civil Court judges for their generous donation of toothbrushes, toothpaste and toys,” said Gregory Calliste, CEO, NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull. “Their support improves the dental health of children in our community and raises awareness of the importance of oral care.”
According to Judge Gotlieb, who has donated supplies to the NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health clinic for several years and spearheaded the campaign: “The people of Brooklyn have honored us with their trust and support. It is a privilege to join my colleagues in playing a small role in helping our Brooklyn neighbors fight childhood tooth decay and develop good dental health throughout their lives,” said Honorable Brian L. Gotlieb, Judge of the Civil Court of the City of New York, Kings County.
“Judge Gottlieb’s handing out of toothbrushes, toothpaste and toys to patients in our pediatric dental office was an incredible experience. The look on the children’s faces as they received gifts from Judge Gottlieb was priceless. The parents and staff were all very grateful. It’s events like this that make all the difference to so many people. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Judge Gotlieb on this and other initiatives in the years to come,” said Dr. Steven Gounardes, Program Director, General Dentistry and Special Care, NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull.
