Bayonetta Origins Director Abebe Tinari Joins Housemarque as Lead Game Designer
As spotted by eagle eyes Reset era users, Tinari updated her LinkedIn profile to include Housemarque. It’s still unclear exactly what he will be working on. However, a job offer Last year, a senior game designer said the studio was working on a AAA action game featuring boss fights.
Tinari posted an update on her work status on Blue sky in mid-December last year, where they said they were now based in Helsinki. Tinari worked at Platinum Games for just over 11 years. Starting with the English localization of Bayonetta 2, he acted as director of Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon. Other games they have worked on are Granblue Fantasy: Relink, Star Fox Guard and the unreleased Xbox exclusive Scalebound.
Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon was well reviewed when it launched on Nintendo Switch in 2023. It received a Metascore of 80 on Metacritic. Alongside Tinari, Bayonetta creator Hideki Kamiya contributed writing.
Housemarque is a Finnish studio based in Helsinki. The developer has existed in several different forms since 1993. However, the studio began to see more mainstream success with Super Startdust HD and Dead Nation for PS3. The developer is also known for other classic arcade-inspired games like Resogun, Alienation, and Nex Machina.
Its 2021 PS5 roguelike third-person shooter Returnal was a departure from its usual arcade-style games. It has worked well and received updates since its launch.
