Flora Lichtman will host Science Friday alongside Ira Flatow

Seasoned science journalist Flora Lichtmann has been named host of Science Friday, the independent and trusted source of entertaining science news and stories distributed by WNYC Studios. Founder Ira Flatow will also continue as host.

Lichtman is well known to Science Friday audiences, having been a frequent guest host since 2010. Known for her creative science storytelling, Flora is the former host and creator of “Every Little Thing,” a Gimlet-produced podcast that aired for 200 episodes over five years. She also wrote for Netflix’s “Bill Nye Saves the World” and co-directed the Emmy-nominated video series “Animated Life.” The New York Times Op-Docs channel.

“I’m thrilled to have Flora join me as host,” said Flatow, who founded the show in 1991 and oversaw the program’s expansion to serve more than 1.8 million people on radio and television. digital platforms. “Flora is already loved by our audiences for her thoughtful ideas, humor and energy,” he added. “She embodies the relentless curiosity, fun and intellectual rigor that are the foundation of our show.”

“Over the last 20 years in my career, what has been most important to me is making science approachable, approachable and humane,” Lichtman said. “That’s what Science Friday is all about.”

“More than ever, we need more reliable and fun science information,” Lichtman added.
