Mark Messmer (IN-08), elected U.S. Representative from Indiana, recently appeared on an episode of the NFIB show. Small Business Overview to discuss why he decided to run for office, his experience in the Indiana General Assembly and as a small business owner, and his small business priorities for Congress.
“Small business owners have a great perspective on how business, the business world, works. And small businesses employ about 75 to 80 percent in the state (of Indiana) and across the country,” said Rep. Messmer.
He continued: “You really have to consider the impact of laws and regulations and how they impact a small business. I think the more small business owners we have, the better the government will do. And at the state level, the majority of our members in the House and Senate are small business owners and that’s why we operate so effectively at the state level.
