TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – From simple painting to the exterior of their cafe on wheels… Espressoul Café’s the message rings clear.
“Espressoul is about connection with community and delicious flavors,” said founder Eris Movahedi.
For three years, Espressoul Café has been introducing the Persian flavors of the Sonoran Desert. Now, this painting and message will find its way inside these walls to its first physical location on North Wilmot Road.
“I’m going to be the first woman-owned Persian cafe in Tucson, which I’m very proud of and proud to be celebrated in Tucson,” Movahedi said.
It was something the couple wouldn’t have dreamed of when they started their business three years ago.
“It was hard to imagine and it posed a lot of challenges along the way,” said co-founder Derek South, “but we’ve had a lot of support from the community and it’s been wonderful.”
Small businesses like Espressoul Café are what keeps the local economy booming, according to the Tucson Metro Chamber.
“It’s our culture that makes us unique,” said Michael Guymon, president and CEO of the Tucson Metro Chamber. “We actually have people who come here because of the food scene – because of our designation as a food city, because of all the great chefs and the great food that we have in this area, and the more it is The more diverse the better. »
They said it was the right time for those who dream of starting a business to take that big leap.
“We’re seeing a lot of growth in this region, from a retail and small business perspective,” Guymon said.
Despite the difficulties that taking risks can bring, the rewards can be very sweet.
“I want women to feel empowered to pursue something they are passionate about, without fear and with faith, and of course, Persian immigrants. Women like me,” Movahedi said.
