Every year, journalists from MIT Technology Review release a list of 10 revolutionary technologies: These are things about to reach a tipping point and potentially change the way the world works.
Unsurprisingly, artificial intelligence remains a major advance. While 2024 has been the year of big learning models, small learning models are leading Technology reviewthis year’s list. These smaller models are more accessible, efficient and could be better for the climate than their larger counterparts.
AI generative search is also on the list, already implemented by Google with its Gemini language model. A new HIV drug called Lenacapavir, which has proven incredibly effective in trials, is also on the list, along with cleaner alternative jet fuels.
Ira Operations Editor Amy Nordrum joins Ira to discuss these and other items on the list. MIT Technology Review based in Boston, Massachusetts.
