HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Employees at a new business in downtown Huntington are picking up what’s left of their store’s front door after it was burglarized early Thursday morning.
Nicholas Marie, owner of Buddy’s Bud Co. on Fourth Avenue, said someone threw a brick through the glass door shortly after 3 a.m.
“It was sort of inevitable. It’s a big glass door that just screams for someone to break it,” Marie said.
Marie opened the store in November 2024 and is frustrated by the burglary he was alerted to on Thursday morning. Surveillance video shows the moment the suspect threw the brick through the glass door. The suspect then enters the store and goes behind the counter but is unable to get his hands on anything of value. The suspect then exits through the broken glass door.
“The window is broken so obviously it’s annoying. But the most important thing is that they didn’t take anything. I don’t know what their goal was other than to ruin my day,” Marie said.
Marie is now looking for a new door to replace the one that was broken during the burglary, but still plans to stay open as usual.
“Certainly not closed. That’s kind of one of the biggest things that I want to emphasize is that we’re still open for business. We’re going to do whatever we need to do to be here and stay here. We just don’t have a door,” Marie said.
Huntington Police tell us they have not made any arrests related to the incident.
