LeBron James finally scored a 3-pointer, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Los Angeles Lakers from getting blown out again on Wednesday night.

Tyler Herro broke out in the third quarter to propel the Miami Heat to a dominant 134-93 victory over the Lakers at Kaseya Center on Wednesday. He dropped seven 3-pointers in the third quarter alone, which matched a Heat franchise record, and scored 31 points in the victory.

It was the Lakers’ second straight loss, following their 29-point loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night. The Lakers, who have lost six of their last eight games, are now 12-10 this season. They have lost by a total of 70 points in their last two games.

ā€œI’m embarrassed. We’re all embarrassed,” Lakers coach JJ Redick said. via Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “It’s not a match in which we had the right fight, the right professionalism. … There has to be some ownership… I own this, but there’s going to have to be some ownership on the ground.”

The Heat led most of the game and took a 17-point lead into the locker room at halftime. Herro, however, propelled them to victory after outscoring the Lakers by 16 points in the third period alone. Herro drained seven 3-pointers, including one to Anthony Davis from the Kesaya Center logo that looked way too easy.

That bucket came in the middle of a long 9-0 run for the Heat, who held the Lakers scoreless for nearly three full minutes to end the quarter. Herro also dominated the Lakers himself in the third quarter, as they only managed 20 points as a unit while Herro gave up 21 from deep. From there, they simply cruised to victory by 41 points.

Herro added five rebounds and four assists to go along with his 31 points for the Heat in the win. He also made 9 of 16 from behind the arc. Jimmy Butler added 17 points and nine rebounds, and Bam Adebayo finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. The Heat now hold a 10-10 record with this victory, which ended two losses.

LeBron James finally scores a 3-point basket

The only silver lining for the Lakers on Wednesday night was that James’ drought behind the arc finally ended.

James, who had missed 20 straight shots from the 3-point line in his last five games, finally knocked one down from the top of the court early in the third quarter.

It was the only 3-pointer James made all night, but it was historic. This officially moved him past Kyle Korver and into seventh on the NBA’s all-time 3-point list. James’ 2,451 made 3s are still far behind Stephen Curry, who leads all time with more than 3,800 3-pointers made. Mavericks star Klay Thompson is sixth with 2,531 3-pointers.

James finished with a team-high 29 points, eight assists and five rebounds in the Lakers’ loss. He shot 12 of 18 from the field and 1 of 4 from behind the arc. Rui Hachimura added 14 points and D’Angelo Russell finished with 12 points. The Lakers shot just under 23% from the 3-point line as a team.

The Lakers will face the Atlanta Hawks on Friday to conclude their four-game road trip.
