BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – In the spirit of giving this Christmas, one Baton Rouge area business is going out of its way to feed dozens of people in the community, a reminder of what this holiday is all about.

Regina Williams, the owner of Kevin’s Kitchen, said sometimes it’s better to give than to receive.

“I want everyone to do good for someone today,” Williams said. “Do something for God today. So if you feel the need to do it in your heart, do it.

Williams, along with her friend Tonya, served hot meals to the Florida Street community.

“I serve red beans with sausage, rice, sweet potatoes, mustard greens, cornbread and a drink,” Williams said.

People left with happy faces and even happier bellies.

This year, Williams opened Kevin’s Kitchen, named after her son. When her mother passed away last December, she decided it was time to give back to the community.

“And I stayed up until about 2 this morning cooking,” Williams said. “I was smiling the whole time because I knew it would be good for someone who needs something warm to eat at Christmas.”

Next year, she hopes to recruit more volunteers to feed even more people. For Williams, it’s a labor of love.

“Twenty-five is the year to start sharing love, not hate,” Williams said. “We want to love each other; we want more love in the world, that’s what I pray for.
