The new director general of the entertainment complex Augusta filed a complaint against his former employer in which he declared that he had been dismissed on the reservation of “black acts”.
Todd Mastry was chosen by the Augusta-Richmond County Coliseum Authority after having cited his formidable curriculum vitae supervising large places of entertainment.
“We are proud to welcome Todd Mastry to Augusta at such a pivotal time for our community,” said Cedric Johnson, president of the Augusta Richmond County Coliseum Authority. “With an ongoing historical project and the future of Augusta taking shape, the leadership and the expertise of Todd will be decisive. We look forward to working in close collaboration with him to give life to our shared vision and guarantee that the Augusta entertainment complex continues to develop as a leading destination for our region. ”
More recently, Mastry was executive director of the Congress and Visitors of the County of Desoto in Southaven, Miss. Memphis Grizzlies in Memphis.
“Todd brings a rich experience in the supervision and management of new arenas projects and we will strongly rely on his expertise in the direction of our Augusta team during the construction of the new sports arena and versatile entertainment,” said Greg O’Dell, president of the management of the premises for Oak View Group, the real estate company contracted to manage the complex. “He has proven himself as a first -rate operator, reserving and organizing higher quality events – we look forward to the exciting opportunities that he and the team create in Augusta.”
Mastry filed a complaint at the American district court in January Affirming that the DESOTO County Supervisors Council violated its civil rights on reservations at the Landers Center with 10,000 seats.
According to the trial, the supervisor of Desoto County District 2, Mark Gardner, said on several occasions that he did not want “ black acts ” to perform at the Landers Center. The Gardner supervisor clearly said he didn’t want the “ these people ” to happen and the `these people ” from Memphis to see the performance of the county of Desoto. “”
The county denied the allegations. A trial represents only one side of a dispute.
Johnson told Augusta Chronicle on Monday afternoon that Oak View Group supervises all personnel decisions for AEC. Since OVG has not expressed concern about the mastry’s trial, neither has the authority of the Colosseum.
“I don’t know if I remember the details of all of this,” said Johnson about the mastry trial. “But even if I did it, I think it’s a bit between him, his former employer and OVG.”
